World Children's Initiative (WCI) is guided with the vision of revolutionizing how healthcare and education is delivered to children in developing areas all over the world.
Project Peds: Sri Lanka is a project designed to rehabilitate pediatric healthcare delivery in Matara, a city located in the southern province of Sri Lanka & devastated by the Tsunami of 2004.
Our Plan
- Construct a resource-efficient 2-story, 155-bed children's hospital
-
Design a comprehensive healthcare education program aimed at reducing disease-specific disease burden

Our Progress
We have an official committment from the Government of Sri Lanka and the local support of the Matara community
To date, we have raised over $900,000 in funds from the Bush/Clinton Tsunami Relief Fund, Kaiser Permanente, Carnegie Corporation, Sri Lanka Medical Association of North America and hundreds of generous individuals
We have partnered with two leading US-based pediatric hospitals - Children's National Medical Center & Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh as well as Physicians for Peace, an international non-profit organization focused on medical training
Our construction efforts commenced on June 15th, 2008 and we have made considerable progress to date...
