Today was a long one for the WCI team. There were challenging cases that took longer than anticipated and brought a lot of learning for our Uganda Heart institute colleagues.

We definitely want to treat as many kids as possible when we are in country.

However, the main goal of WCI Project Heart Uganda is to improve the ability of the local Ugandan healthcare providers to help their patients all the time even when we aren’t here.

Even if we did cases all day for the entire week, we’d only be able to put a small dent into the 10,000 Ugandan children who are born with a cardiovascular defect every year.
